Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie Recipe

I love to bake cookies during the holiday season! I have several holiday cookie recipes to share with you over the next few weeks. First up, this Peppermint pinwheel cookie recipe is a holiday family and Christmas cookie favorite at our house! Peppermint pinwheel cookies are perfect for a Christmas cookie platter, a holiday bake sale or a Christmas cookie swap party.

Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies Recipe

Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 cup Flour
  • ¾ tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 cup softened Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • ½ tsp Peppermint Extract
  • Red Food Coloring
  • White Pearl Decorations
Instructions
  1. Combine dry ingredients and set aside
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add beaten egg, milk and peppermint.
  4. Gradually add in flour.
  5. Divide mixture in half, placing half in plastic bag in refrigerator.
  6. Add red food color to remaining half and mix until color is consistent.
  7. Place red half in plastic bag in refrigerator.
  8. Place white dough on parchment paper.
  9. Roll white half to about ¼? thick.
  10. Place red dough on parchment paper.
  11. Roll red half to about ¼? thick.
  12. Flip red dough onto top of white dough.
  13. Use rolling pin to gently make sure sheets are attached to each other.
  14. Remove top parchment.
  15. Use parchment to lift one side of dough and roll (do not roll parchment into cookies).
  16. Cover rolled dough in white pearls.
  17. Wrap rolled dough and chill for 30 minutes.
  18. Slice and bake in 375 degree oven about 9 minutes (watch for edges to begin to turn lightly brown).
  19. Leave on cookie sheet for several minutes before moving to cooling rack.

These are so pretty! I’m sure they taste delicious (I love peppermint!), and they would add an interesting shape to a cookie platter.

I love anything Peppermint and it can be hard to find good recipes. I just love this one. I have never made a cookie like this before, but there always has to be a first. Thanks for the great pics and recipe.
