Over the weekend I made some marble cupcakes for my sister in law for a bridal shower she was helping throw. Of course I had to take a few pictures so I could share how I made them here! For some of you this may seem rather simple, but I’m sure it’s still a question that comes up often.
I used chocolate and vanilla cupcake batter to marble, but you can use any two flavors of cupcake, here are just a few more ideas:
- Strawberry and vanilla
- Cherry and chocolate
- Vanilla and butterscotch
- Red velvet with chocolate or vanilla
- Lemon and strawberry
Or combine your two favorite flavors.
Start by mixing up your favorite 2 flavors of cake mix or your favorite cupcake recipe. I have a basic vanilla cupcake recipe I love, and a chocolate recipe I really need to post here soon! The bride to be requested chocolate and vanilla marble, so those were the flavors I used this time.
I took a measuring cup and spooned in 2 tablespoons of vanilla cupcake mix, then one tablespoon of chocolate. I repeated the process several times, layering in the cake mix flavors. Some flavors you could layer evenly, I just didn’t want the chocolate to over power the vanilla on these, so I used a little more vanilla.
Then I carefully poured the mixture into the cupcake wrappers. Be careful you don’t mix or stir, just layer and you should get perfectly marbled cupcakes. Some will be a little more chocolate, and some will be a little more vanilla, but you will have a nice mixture.
Bake the cupcakes according to the recipe or mix directions, usually 18 to 20 minutes at 325-350`F.
Here’s what the cupcakes looked like on the inside.
Here is the final display of cupcakes. I delivered them to my sister in law and she took a photo of them for me when they were all set up for the party!
Let me know if you come up with any interesting flavor combinations for your marble cupcakes!
