3 Healthy Smoothie Recipes Your Kids Will Love!

    by Linette March 10, 2011
    written by Linette

We’ve completely overhauled the foods we eat at our house in the last year. Sure we still make the sweet treats from time to time, how can we not? But, in our day to day lives we try hard to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and real foods to keep our bodies running.

Smoothies are so quick and easy to make for a fast healthy breakfast, or a quick afternoon pick me up before baseball practice. The best part is they’re cold and sweet, so kids will eat ’em!

Today I want to share some of our family favorite smoothie recipes kids will love.

    Mixed Berry Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
    • 1 cup plain yogurt
    • 2 bananas
    • About 1 cup water
    • Optional: tablespoon of honey

    Directions:

Peel the banana, and put everything into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into two tall mugs and enjoy! If it’s not sweet enough, add about 1 tablespoon of honey and blend again.

    Chocolate Banana Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    • 1 medium banana
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 cup crushed ice
    • 1 quick squeeze of chocolate syrup (Maybe not so quick if you love chocolate!)

    Directions:

Blend ingredients at high speed until smooth and serve in a tall glass.

    Pineapple Peach Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup frozen peaches
    • 1/2 cup fresh pineapple
    • 1 cup plain yogurt
    • 2 bananas
    • About 1 cup water

    Directions:

Peel the bananas and throw everything in a high speed blender until smooth. The pineapple should make this sweet enough you don’t need any other sweetener. If you do add a little honey and blend again.

If you don’t have frozen fruit, you can also use fresh fruit and throw in a handful or two of ice for the berry and peach smoothies.

If you have extra smoothie leftover, pour it in a small plastic cup, stick in a Popsicle stick, or a spoon, and freeze them to make your own smoothie pops. Super yummy on a hot summer day!
