I’ve been working on the jungle party theme this week, so I thought I’d show you an easy idea for a lion mask today. You can have the kids make this at the party, just have the holes punched, and the strings cut so you’re ready to go.
The lions in the picture were made with googly eyes, but if you want to make them into masks, just cut out holes for the eyes so the child can see through them.
What you’ll need per child:
- Crayons
- About 30 pieces of string, each about 3-4 inches long
- a paper plate
- hole punch
You’ll probably also need another adult, or older child to help.
Show the children how to fold the string in half, and feed the looped end of the string through the hole in the paper plate. Put the other end (the end with two string ends) through the loop that’s made by sticking the it through the hole.
Then pull the two strings together to tighten the string onto the plate.
Do this for all thirty strings around the plate, then let the child color and decorate their lion.
Make sure they put their name on it so they can find it when it’s time to go home.
