I love it when the feel of fall is in the air! The crisp cool mornings and the beautiful changing leaves are some of my favorite things. It’s a fun family tradition at our house at this time of the year to get in the spooky spirit and decorate for Halloween! We’ve already started our Halloween preparations, and headed out to the store last weekend to see what we could find to add to our Halloween decoration collection.
My husband and my son are all for the scary Halloween decorations, I’m more a fan of the cute, and fall theme decorations.
Check out these costumes my son put together on Kmart Kreator. The Kreator is a really cool website where you can create your own costume, and even add your face to the costume if it doesn’t have a mask. It’s super easy to use just click on the options to create your costume. Kids will love it, and I’m sure they’ll be like my son and want to create several virtual costumes of their own!
Of course my son went for scary with a zombie and a grim reaper. He thinks he’s too grown up (and cool) for anything cute any more.My son loves scary masks like these. He’s been the grim reaper the last couple years for Halloween. The only problem is, he thinks he needs a new mask every year! What happened to the cute little Tigger, super hero and puppy dog costumes he use to wear when he was younger? I still have his puppy costume, it was soooo cute!
When we were at Kmart this weekend of course he zoomed right in on a similar mask while we were in the Halloween decor section. I was going for something more fall theme, to decorate around the house. He was sure we had to get the mask, with a bloody knife prop and tombstone to go with it. I wanted to look around first. I really liked these guys. Aren’t they adorable!
I also liked these zombie ghosts, but my son was set on the mask.
I thought about it and decided the mask could serve double duty! We’re going to put it in our front yard as part of our Halloween decor on beggars night with a spotlight on the scary face to give kids a little fright. My son’s too old to go trick or treating, or at least he thinks so, but he’s going to a Halloween party, and is planning to wear the costume Halloween weekend.
We set up the display for a practice run yesterday. It wasn’t too scary during the day.
But at night with the spotlight I’m sure it will be a fun scare (hopefully not too scary)!
While I was at Kmart I also picked up a pair of small mums for my fall display. It’s another one of my fall traditions. They were on sale for $2.99 each! I like to plant them later in the fall so they come back year after year.
I also love to hang spider web from the windows, so I picked up a package of that to hang on the front porch.
I’m excited we’re started on our Halloween prep for the year. We have more decorating planned over the next couple weeks, and I’m sure I’ll have to make up some fun Halloween treats. That’s another fall tradition at our house!
I would say we have a good start on our Halloween decorations this year!
