I know I can’t even come close to covering all the birthday cake ideas for boys out there with 20 of them, but I’m hoping it will give you a little birthday cake inspiration! I tried to mix it up a little, and include different themes I thought boys would like, and some of these cakes would even work for either boys or girls.

1. First up, I know sports are a favorite at our house, so here’s a football cake from Momtastic.
2. What about a Pizza Cake? It would be perfect for a pizza party, or almost any other type of party. It’s great for older boys who don’t really want a theme birthday party, but they still want a fun cake.
3. What about a fish cake? This would be perfect if you have a fisherman in the house, or if you’re planning an ocean or under the sea type party.
4. If you have a music fan you can make them a guitar cake.
5. Here’s another fun idea for the fishing fan in your life. Love this easy to make live bait can cake, complete with gummy worms on top!
6. If you have a farm or animal fan in the family, make them this farm animal birthday cake, complete with cupcakes, and a hay stack smash cake!
7. Little boys love superheros, and they’re sure to love this fun superhero cake!
8. Don’t have any decorating skills? Make it a little non traditional and gift them a sugar rush! Go with a candy cake like this one by Recipe Girl.
9. I adore this dinosaur cake from Instructables!
10. A jungle cake is sure to be a big hit for kids!
11. Monster cake anyone? This one from Makoodle looks super easy to make!
12. Do you have a boy who loves jungle animals? This is not exactly a cake, but these jungle animal cupcakes could hit the spot!
13. If you have an older boy who likes to hunt, this camo cake will do the trick from Cake Central.
14. My friend’s son would love this golf cake.
15. Littler boys might like something like this Mickey Mouse cake by Cakes By May. Fondant is not as hard to work with as you think it is!
16. If you have a boy who likes to “monkey around” make him a monkey cake, like this one from Wilton.
17. I know plenty of little boys who would be excited to have this train cake from Kraft for their birthday.
18. Another favorite is this fire truck birthday cake from Taking Time for Mom.
19. Vroom, vroom, it’s a race track birthday cake from Perfect Party Ideas. Did you see the race track is in the shape of a 3? How cute! You could probably change it up for other ages like 2, 5, or 6.
20. I saved one of the best for last! We have a super cute jungle birthday cake from Catch My Party! I’ve seen several different variations of this cake, but I love the animal print fondant icing idea. Working with fondant isn’t difficult, it’s just like molding Play Doh!
