My niece was planning a birthday party for her daughter a few weeks ago, and she called me looking for advice for a cupcake or cake idea that wouldn’t cost a fortune. Her daughter is a huge Tinkerbell fan, so she really wanted to do something Tinkerbell for her, but didn’t have the budget for a professionally decorated cake.
I had some Tinkerbell stickers in my scrapbook stuff, and plenty of scrapbook paper, so I put together these super easy Tinkerbell cupcake toppers.
They only cost a few dollars to make. Here’s what we used:
- $1.99 for a pack of 24 Tinkerbell Stickers
- .25-30 cents each for 2 sheets of scrapbook paper ( I used leftovers from another project)
- 24 toothpicks
- Some star sprinkles for fairy dust
- A cake mix and icing
I used my Cricut to cut out the scrapbook paper squares, and made them just a little larger than the stickers so they would make a boarder backdrop for the sticker. You could also cut them out with scissors, or use a straight edge cutter to cut out a couple at a time.
Then I just added the sticker, flipped them over and glued on a toothpick. We made them single sided, but you could also make them double sided if you would like.
The cupcake toppers were a big hit for my niece and her friends, and the best part is you could make these for any theme you could find a sticker for. You don’t have to pay a fortune to have your cupcakes decorated for you.
