Townhouse Crackers~ Fun To Top For Snacks or Parties

Just in time for summer snacks, Townhouse sent me several boxes of  Townhouse crackers in a party pack to give a taste test. I received the crackers a couple days ago, and since then they’ve been disappearing whenever I’m not looking, so I would say they’re a big hit at our house! As a matter of fact, so many disappeared, I had to go buy a couple new boxes so I could top them and get a photo!

I love making crackers with toppers for a quick afternoon snack, or even top them for a quick lunch when we’re on the go. Here are just a few of my favorite cracker topping ideas:

  • Peanut butter and grapes
  • Avocado
  • Cheese and tomato slices
  • Almond butter and banana slices
  • Tuna or chicken salad
  • PB and J
  • Dried beef and cream cheese
  • Apple butter

And there are many other ways you can top a cracker, and hundreds more ways you can dip them , or add them to other recipes. Here’s a recipe from Townhouse for sloppy joes you can use to top your crackers.


Sloppy Joe Bites

Prep Time: 20 mins Total Time: 45 mins Level: Easy

Ingredients:

1 cup finely chopped onion (about 1 medium)
1 cup finely chopped celery (about 2 stalks)
1/2 cup finely chopped carrot (about 1 medium)
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 pound lean ground beef
1 can (15 oz.) pureed tomatoes
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons of molasses
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of cider vinegar
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon pepper
Keebler® Town House Toppers® Original Crackers or Keebler® Town House Toppers® Multi-Grain Crackers

Directions

In nonstick Dutch oven cook onion, celery, carrot and garlic in hot oil over medium heat about 5 minutes or until tender. Remove from pan.
In same Dutch oven cook ground beef over medium-high heat until brown. Drain off any fat. Stir in vegetable mixture, tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered about 25 to 30 minutes or until very thick, stirring occasionally.
Spoon about 1 1/2 teaspoons of meat mixture on top of each cracker. (Or, transfer to serving bowl and serve with crackers.)

Yield: 4 cups meat mixture; 32 servings (1 serving = 2 tablespoon meat mixture plus 4 crackers)

This recipe would be great for a quick lunch, or a birthday party treat. Yum!

This is the first time I’ve had a chance to try the Townhouse Flatbread Crisps, and I have to say I really enjoyed the crackers I got to taste. I didn’t get many though, my husband really liked them too, so they disappeared quickly!

I really like the Townhouse Toppers for things like peanut butter, because the edges hold the toppings in place so they don’t run over the sides. They’re also a little thicker and heartier than regular crackers to hold the sturdier toppings.

Overall I can say the crackers were definitely enjoyed at our house!

Thanks for stopping by and the Kale Chips Comment, I want to try making them in my food dehydrator next time, I bet they come out even better!

My husband would love the Sloppy Joes on the crackers!
