Family Friendly Outdoor 4th of July Party Ideas #KmartOutdoor #CBias

by Linette

The 4th of July is one of my favorite summer holidays for entertaining! We’ve had several big 4th of July parties in the past, especially when we were younger! We’re thinking about throwing a big 4th of July bash this year, so we need to spruce up our patio! When summer hits we’re ready for the outdoors. The Kmart Outdoor Living Catalog had quite a few patio sets I liked, so we decide to head out to our local Kmart store to check out their selection of outdoor decor. You can click on the image to check out everything they have available!

We were pleasantly surprised by their nice selection of outdoor furniture. My son and my husband eventually settled into this bar patio set. It was on sale for $319, and under our $400 budget, a big plus! It’s part of the Dawson Collection by Jaclyn Smith Today. I love Jaclyn Smith! The best part is there are other pieces we can add on later, and other patio sets to match.

We also picked up some 4th of  July party decorations and a few other items while we were there. I was really impressed with the customer service, and how quickly they had our new bar set to the front of the store and loaded in the truck! I even received a $5 gift card by using my Shop Your Way Rewards Card. You can check out our entire shopping experience here: Kmart Patio Furniture Shop.

I wanted to test out the new patio furniture, and some of my 4th of July red white and blue food ideas, so I took advantage of Father’s Day to have a small party with the family.

My husband set up the patio furniture while I did some cooking. The bar and the chairs were fairly easy to assemble. I was doubting our choice when we got home, then my husband got it put together, and I remembered all of the reasons why we loved it in the store. Check out all the room and shelves behind the bar.

They would be perfect to hold a cooler of ice, some soft drinks, chips, adult beverages, or even extra plates and silverware for your party. There’s also a hole for an umbrella if you need to add a little shade. I think this bar set is just perfect for summer entertaining!

I went ahead and set up the 4th of July decorations so I could see how they’d look. If you’re looking for 4th of July party decor, I really like this flag bow, and these flag twirlers. I made a star garland from scrapbook paper and raffia.

We were ready for a party! Everyone seemed to navigate to the bar set. It was the center attention and they were all checking it out. Of course it might have been because there were munchies on there, and everyone loves munchies!

My brother in law took charge of the grill, and cooked us up some hot dogs and burgers. He added some special seasoning to the burgers.

Later I got out all the 4th of July red white and blue desserts and set them up on the patio set. It makes a wonderful dessert bar!

Here are my red white and blue dessert ideas:

  • 4th of July cupcakes with red and blue stars, and wraps.
  • Mini fruit kabobs with strawberries, blueberries and angel food cake
  • Festive red white and blue Jello cups
  • My mother in law did a great job with the watermelon, check out those scalloped edges!
  • My sister in law made a patriotic platter of red and blue fruit.

I think they were all a big hit! I don’t think I’ll need to make any changes for our 4th of July party!

Everyone had a great time, especially the kids! My niece took up residence behind the bar and served up soft drinks, and even got a couple tips!

I think our 4th of July test party went really well and all of my ideas worked out! We’ve got corn hole, some backyard baseball and swimming on the agenda for our 4th of July activities.

My husband would love that bar table and chairs. 🙂 He thinks he always has to be standing up. Difference is that he is standing and dong nothing where I am standing and trying to be the best hostess. 🙂 lol
